Teach a Topic - TAT

Teach a Topic is an online competition organized by MitSna as a part of its quest in uplifting the quality of education in the state of Manipur. This will be an online event and first of its kind in Manipur. Education has been more of rote memorization and has led to the decline in the creative and productive skills of the youth of Manipur.

The lack of an atmosphere to nurture the talent of teaching and the ability to express ideas and concepts in ways intelligible to many has discouraged the growth of generations of teachers and communicators across various subjects and disciplines.

Format of competition: Competitors can create any short video of 5-8 mins in length explaining an academic topic in an easily understandable way either in Manipuri or English. The topic can be from any subject: Science or Humanities (Arts) or Commerce. We welcome shortened videos which can express concepts coherently.

The maximum duration allowed will be 8 mins. The competitor can use any methods in explaining the topic or concept but has to be an original and innovative idea. In case of the use of resources from external sources (images, quotes, etc from the web, books, etc); proper reference and due credit should be mentioned.

The competitor need not be present in front of the camera. If the competitor is found to commit to fraud (re-enacting a course taught in any other video by simply translating the language with no input), the candidature will be revoked. The competition is open to anyone.

The participants must be a subscriber of our YouTube channel. In case of a tie in the number of views or likes, we will choose the participants who follow all our social networking sites: Facebook and Instagram as to value their support for MitSna.

*Executive members of MitSna are barred from participating in the competition.

Method of submission: The competitors will upload the video in their google drive and share the link to MitSna via mail: [email protected]. We will put in the competition logo, competitor’s number and name.

While submitting the video, we encourage you to provide a brief detail about yourself: Name, qualification, and institute associated with and most importantly the topic/name of the video. We will not give any input on the name of the video; we will use the title of the video exactly the way it is submitted to us.

All the submitted materials will become property of MitSna and use to increase the stock of MitSna’s collection of education materials.

Assessment of the videos: All the videos will be uploaded on our YouTube and Facebook pages after processing. We will open a span of one month for submission of videos. After the duration, the portal will be closed and we will try to upload the videos within a span of 2 weeks in the order of submission.

However, so as to neutralize the effect of earlier videos getting more views, we will keep a duration of one month for all the videos to attain saturation counting from the day all the videos are completely uploaded.

The competitors are encouraged to share the videos; however, we will only count the number of views and likes on our pages.

The first round of assessment will be done by the public. Only the top 10 which gets the maximum number of views and likes will be chosen for our final round.

For the final round, we will decide the winner of the video on the following criteria:
a. The difficulty of the chosen topic
b. Clarity with which the topic is explained.
c. Originality and degree of innovation of ideas or concepts used to explain the topic.

We will select the top 3 candidates and award cash prizes accordingly along with special gifts from MitSna. All these will be accompanied by a citation.

The entire event can be organized with a stipulated fund of 30,000 INR.

For the sponsors:

i. Below 2000 INR: The names will be published on our SNS along with the contribution amount.
ii. 2000-4999 INR: Issue of Memento for contribution to the program. The names will be published on our SNS along with the contribution amount.
iii. 5000-9999 INR: Contributors will be given due credit along with the event tagline in all the submitted videos.
We will also welcome, event sponsors, who are expected to contribute 10000 or above. This is for companies and start-up who wish to support us.
