Tata Institute of Social Sciences starts masters in social sciences
Times of India | TNN | Jul 21, 2012, 10.38PM IST
"The TISS Guwahati Campus is the harbinger of national centre for social sciences. But social sciences in India have produced a large number of growth-skeptics. We want the institute to produce more politically unbiased and professional scholars who can take up in-depth and empirical studies on the issues of the northeast. We do not want growth-skeptic activists," said Ramesh.
Last year, when Ramesh was the Union minister of state for environment and forests, some students of TISS in Mumbai boycotted the 71st convocation ceremony in which he was the chief guest. They were protesting against the Jaitpur nuclear project. The students also waved black flags and displayed anti-nuclear placards.
