Student leaders detained for mobilizing ILPS campaign
Nagaland Post | Imphal, Aug 19:
Five leaders of the agitating Kangleipak Students’ Association (KSA) were Saturday arrested by Manipur police for mobilizing students to take part in its ongoing Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) campaign. KSA is currently campaigning for implementation of ILPS in the state. The student body is also demanding the government to bar non-indigenous people from contesting elections and casting votes.
A team of Imphal East district police picked the five leaders of the KSA including two girls around 1 pm while they were allegedly mobilizing students of Khabeisoi Primary Rose English School in Imphal’s Khabeisoi locality. The arrested leaders were Leisangkhong Fazal, Sinam Basudeva, Khoisnam Sanjoy, Umabati Laishram and Konjengbam Jenifer.
