Spurt in road accidents in Manipur cause of concern
Seven Sisters Post | Yumnam Rupachandra | Imphal (Aug 2):
Inability of the Central and state governments to curb the high rate of road accidents and fatalities weighed heavy on the ministers who attended the recently-concluded meeting of state transport ministers in New Delhi.
Manipur transport and PWD minister Kh Ratankumar, who also attended the meeting, told Seven Sisters Post that he had expressed his government’s concern in the meeting over the high rate of accidents on national highways passing through the state. There were as many as 83 accidents on national highways, 28 on the state highways and 31 on other roads during 2011 in the state.
