Hindu College, University of Delhi, witnessed the solo album (Live As One) released of the vocalist and main songwriter of the popular Rock/Pop/Alternative band 'Blending Chords' on 1st Oct, 2017. The event was jointly hosted by the artist's personal management team in collaboration with Hindu College's Northeast Cell.
The album was officially launched by Smt. Mercy Epao, Director, Ministry of DoNER, GoI, (the Chief Guest of the event) In her speech, the Chief Guest said "Awarthanga Chiru is a special gift and his music speaks for itself. MDoNER is blessed to have worked with him on numerous occasions."
She also reiterated how special the MDoNER theme song is in terms of its message which Awathanga composed for the Ministry. The event was also attended by other prominent dignitaries including Shri. SJ Chiru, Director, NFSM, GoI, Smt. Dr. Solomi Vio Jatak, Prof. Dr. N. Santakrus Singh, and so on.
The event began with a special performance from Ithami Kasar and her band belting out numbers by Hillsong and others.
The crowd comprising mainly of students of Delhi University went beserk when a 9 years old Sadhika Naorem, who came all the way from Guwahati specially for this gig, took the stage exuding maturity and confidence well beyond her age.
However, the night truly belonged to the artiste of the evening, Awarthanga Chiru, whose solo rendition of the MDoNER theme song 'Live As One' (composed by him on special request from the Ministry) accompanied only by his keyboard left the audience mesmerized by his vocal range and emotional message of the song advocating peace, harmony, and love across racial, religious, regional, and communal spectrum.
This is followed by the full band taking the stage to perform the popular single from the album 'Alarm Song' bringing the crowd to its feet and dancing to the rhythm of the song.
After the band performed 'Time To Act', 'My Only Reason To Live', and the 'Worship Song', the auditorium echoed with the crowd demanding an encore which the band happily obliged.
The performance was followed by a DVD signing session. In speaking to the media after the event, the event coordinator Prof. Rengleen Kongsong (University of Delhi) said "The event is a great success.
This is Awarthanga Chiru's best work so far and he gave a truly wonderful performance today. Performances like today reiterates the need to support and promote local talent".
