Situation remains tense in Meluri; Tangkhul Naga Long to discuss April 30 issue with villagers

Amid heightened tension, people of Meluri village were apprehensive of escalation of incidents with Jessami villagers following the burning down of dozes of granaries on Monday at around 2.30 a.m. causing an estimated loss of around Rs.1.22 crore.
Taking to this reporter, Meluri village council chairman Rholetho said the villagers were still having sleepless night in view of the tense situation prevailing between the Meluri villagers of Phek district, Nagaland and Jessami of Ukhrul district, Manipur.
With regard to the burning down of granaries allegedly by Jessami villagers, Rholetho said the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) Ukhrul district, would be visiting the site of the burnt granaries and discuss the issue with the villagers on May 2.
