Sit-in-Protest Against Narco Terrorists and Illegal Immigrants in Manipur
A sit-in-protest against narco terrorists and illegal immigrants in Manipur was held on Monday 26th June, Near Collector’s Office, Pune from 5pm to 7 pm. The protest was organised by Meitei Nupi Lup, Pune. At the start of the protest, a minute of silence was observed by the protestors to honour and pray for the innocent lives lost.
More than fifty days into the violence, the Prime Minister has been silent and has not made any appeal for the restoration of peace or reconciliation. Over 100 people have lost their lives and 60,000 people have been displaced, and taking shelter in rehabilitation centres while reports of heavy firing is still coming in every day. People are living in this war-like situation with multiple security forces, mob build-ups and clashes in many areas of Manipur.
Around 100 people from different communities and religions from all parts of Pune came to join the protest against violence and demand restoration of peace in Manipur. With deep concern over the ongoing violence in Manipur that has taken many lives and destroyed villages, the Manipuri groups demanded immediate action from the Central and State governments.

“We Want Peace in Manipur”, “No Separate Administration”, “Stop Hill Valley Divide”, “Meiteis also need Constitutional Protection”, “Meitei Lives Matter”, “Stop Deforestation-Save Manipur”, “Manipur is and will remain One”, “Revoke SoO with Militants” were the slogans of the protest. The protest was a call for peace and unity and a rallying cry against any forces that threatens the cultural heritage and identity of the indigenous people. The voices of the people resonated through the streets of Pune, demanding justice and protection for Manipur.
At this protest, Adv Geetarani Takhellambam and Dr Jyotsna Angom appealed immediate action by the Government and to bring peace among the two communities and in Manipur overall.
The members of meitei families from Churachanpur who are currently in Pune shared their horrifying story of 3rd May, 2023 when they left everything to save their lives.
Mr. Ashutosh Juvale, Mr. Anand Manaktala, Mr. Ravikarn Rawal, husbands of Meitei Ningols settled in Pune appealed immediate actions to stop violence. Rohan Philem Cyclist & Social Activist and Founder of “Cycling for Humanity” protested against violence and misguiding people using false information, religion, and one-sided stories. All the Speakers have stressed that the violence is neither Hindus- Christian nor tribal non-tribal fight.

”Violence in Manipur is going on for more than fifty days. Educational institutions remain closed. Internet remains shut down for nearly two months. Price of essential commodities and emergency items has increased. What is the intention of the government? Government should intervene to restore the peace. Why is the government silent? Are we not the citizens of India? Manipur is a small state but has represented India in many international sports, art and culture. Please do not neglect us, save precious lives and homes”, requested a protestor.
The Meitei Nupi Lup, Pune has also submitted a Memorandum to the District Collector of Pune, addressing The Honourable Prime Minister of India, His Excellency The Governor of Maharastra & The Honourable CM of Maharastra to restore peace in Manipur.
The protest concluded with a strong demand for pro-action from the government in restoring peace and saving the integrity of Manipur.
