The Manipuri Meitei Association, Bangalore (MMAB), hosted a Silent Peace Prayer at the Art of Living Centre, Bengaluru. Hundreds of individuals from the Meitei community gathered to demonstrate their unwavering support for equality and dignity on June 17, 2023, while also offering prayers for those who have been afflicted and lost their lives to the violence in Manipur.
The MMAB strongly condemns and expresses profound sorrow over the prolonged and ongoing violence in Manipur, as well as the prevailing lawlessness within the state. The MMAB firmly believes that lasting peace can only be achieved when all militant groups and armed miscreants are disarmed.
The MMAB requested Sri Sri Ravishankar for his blessings in restoring peace and Law in the state of Manipur. Gurudev is well-informed about the ongoing crisis in Manipur and had foreseen it in 2004, having advocated to the President of India, late Shri Abdul Kalam and raising the issue of how one community was being marginalized due to differential policies inherited from the British.
Gurudev believes that every citizen should have equal rights, whether they reside in Manipur, Himachal, or any other part of the country.
Meiteis should preserve their rich indigenous culture and traditions, known for their contributions of the Raas Leela and Polo to the world. This diverse community has produced highly talented individuals who have excelled in sports and arts. Addressing illegal immigration is crucial to avoid any disruptions or demographic shifts.
The Art of Living has invested in Manipur to develop skills and establish a free school. Gurudev has actively engaged with militant groups, aiming to integrate them into the mainstream. He is fully committed to achieving lasting peace in Manipur and providing support at every step for peace, development, and prosperity.
The MMAB also advocates for peace and development, firmly stating that the current violence could have been prevented if grievances were addressed through meaningful and civilized dialogue involving all impacted stakeholders.
