And another very good family I worked for are the Aroras from Juhu. I have been blessed so much knowing many good people here and
there! I worked as their baby-nurse to 5 of them over different periods of time.
These wealthy families always compete with others as to who could afford what and better services for themselves and kids!!
They had a bevy of assistants for themselves!!
I took care of their kids like my very own!! So much so that my employer left for foreign business trips with her hubby leaving their 3 month old son with me. She trusted me so much with the precious possesion of her life and I did feel compel to care him with my whole life!!
Her parents were there within earshot and so did her in-laws in the same bungalow! There were times when I was all by myself with
the baby and only the security guard at their gate!!
It was scary but by god's grace, I overcame that fear the best way any Manipuri can do so when faced with such situation !!
Some may think its the work of a minai( servant) but to me work is work...no small nor big job...the dignity of labor is
very strong for me!! This family took me everywhere they went...to Tirupati for their first male grand-baby's first haircut.
I witnessed first hand what money can do! This family had booked in advance about this event of first baby's haircut so when we
reached there, I saw the enormous crowd but we got VIP entrance amidst that!! Money makes the world go round!!
And most of all , there was a Bollywood celebrity doing her yearly round trip there that day !! Idont know for sure if the hordes of crowd were gathered for the deity there or for that star...Rekha........who was resplendent in her gorgeous saree and fantastic make up! !!
She definitely knew her star power on people who were awed by her mesmerizing beauty! She had a regal aura about her!! I say this because I too grew up on Amitabh and Rekha movies so I was curious to have a glimpse of her though for a fleeting moment only!! At least I can say I saw her in my lifetime!!
Well, coming back to the baby's haircut, the little baby was very scared by all that was going on around and he started crying and
his grandma could not do anything to stop him.
All I did to help them was call out to the little one and tell him that I was there right behind his mother if needed!! I held him and they shaved him easily and fast!! Nevertheless I was covered with his hair!!
We then packed up and had a taxi rush us to Madras to get the connecting flight from there to Bombay since there were no return flights from Tirupati that day. My boss Simone was very upset with the orthodox ways of her ma-in-law but she had to be quiet to keep peace in that family!
I have noticed many times the high tension within them due to their modern and conservative approaches to anything.. The ma-in-law functioned through her emotional tactics with her sons and the sons came down hard on their wives because they were mama's boys
and wanted to please their moms!!
It is very hard for modern day wives to live with such meddlesome in-laws! It'd take a very skilled maneuvering to handle such situations!! I feel pity for anyone who has to go through such!! Anyone I have a very close friendship with them! The two boys are now 10 and 9 but we keep in touch !!
I want to share some more about my good boss Simone. She is very sophisticated and very big hearted like her parents. I knew them because I got to take her two sons to see them every evening at their bungalow in Juhu beach side. Her dad was very down to earth and so were all of their family.
I got the chance to see the ever dazzling beauty ...Rekha ..again at there residence as she came for a get together with them!! I too was struck by her beauty...!! I thought ...why did God made such a beautiful woman ..to be all alone?"
Anyway, I also saw the royal couple of Nepal (King Birendra & Queen Aishwarya) who came to dine with them. Simone's dad had directed a
TV serial (Jai Hanuman) which was a big hit in Nepal.
I was treated very good by Simone's family. Her younger sister Suzanne was dating Hrithik at that time and both addressed each other as Rye and Pugu (Hrithik's nickname). He was a very homely and family oriented guy. I never knew he'd go on to be such a big star!!
He had no airs about himself and that fact is one which makes him popular too!! Suzanne is so sweet and cute and very doll like and we had a great time just talking about her nephews whom she adored so much!!
And her younger brother Zaid Khan....I cant believe he too has become a big star whom I only knew and saw as a lanky, gawky youngster full of pimples, when I worked for his big sister in the mid 90s!!!
When I visited Bombay in 2005, I met Simone and she asked me if I knew he had become a star...I said no...she showed me his picture
and his future wife!! I was very surprised and told her that I'd definitely watch his flick "Mai Hoong Na".
To be continued..........!!
