USIEF and IQAC, Rajiv Gandhi University Jointly Organize Session on Fulbright Fellowships
The United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Rajiv Gandhi University, Arunachal Pradesh, graciously organized an enlightening session on Fulbright-Nehru, Fulbright Kalam, and other Fulbright Fellowships on April 13, 2023.
The event aimed to acquaint students, scholars, and faculty members with the opportunities provided by Fulbright Fellowships, fostering academic exchange and collaboration between India and the United States.
The program began with the University song, reflecting the institution's values and vision. Subsequently, Prof. R.C. Parida, Director of IQAC, delivered a heartfelt welcome address to the attendees, emphasizing the significance of academic exchange and briefly outlining the crucial role of USIEF in promoting international cooperation between India and the United States.
Vice Chancellor, Professor Saket Kushwaha conveyed his message encouraging the faculty members as well as scholars to pro-actively apply for such prestigious fellowships as it brings repute to the state, community as well as the institution.
The session's resource person, Mr. Sumanta Basu, Regional Officer, USIEF, Kolkata was graciously felicitated by Registrar Dr. N.T. Rikam. In his remarks, the Registrar highlighted the manifold benefits offered by USIEF to scholars and faculty members, including access to international resources, networking opportunities, and exposure to diverse perspectives.
Session on Fulbright Fellowships
Prof. P.K. Panigrahi, Dean Academic Affairs, RGU, encouraged participants in his remarks to embrace the opportunity and apply for various fellowships, emphasizing the importance of these programs for their personal and professional development. Following this, the host, Dr. Ravi Ranjan Kumar, introduced Mr. S. Basu, who began his speech by expressing his appreciation to the organizers and attendees.
Mr. Basu shared invaluable insights into the history of USIEF, the array of fellowships available under Fulbright-Nehru, Fulbright Kalam, and other Fulbright programs, and the application procedures for each. He also discussed the potential influence of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 on the fellowship landscape. Mr. Basu observed the relatively lower number of applications from the northeastern region, inspiring scholars and faculty members to engage more actively in these opportunities.
The session culminated in an interactive question-and-answer session, during which Mr. Basu addressed various inquiries and offered clarifications to the audience. Dr. Sambhu Prasad, Head, Department of the Physical Education, extended the concluding remarks with a heartfelt vote of thanks to all the guests, delegates, and organizing members, signifying the successful conclusion of the informative event.
The seamless organization of the enlightening session exemplifies the dedication of USIEF and IQAC, Rajiv Gandhi University to advancing academic excellence and nurturing international collaboration. The programme was attended by nearly 100 faculty members and scholars from various departments of RGU.
