One-Day Seminar on "Evolving Horizons - Charting a Visionary Course"
SMDC, GHS, CHARE, Tuensang took a significant step towards fostering community development by organizing a one-day seminar on the theme "Evolving Horizons - Charting a Visionary Course" on 4th August, 2023.
The event was held as a social initiative to empower the community and promote knowledge-sharing among various stakeholders.
The seminar was graced by the presence of renowned Academician, Lawyer and Writer Dr. Aniruddha Babar, who delivered two enlightening talks. The first talk, titled "Building a Stronger India through Intergenerational Collaboration," emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation among different age groups to achieve justice, progress and development.
He further emphasized on a need to know the "Constitution of India" and Modern Legal System, also encouraged civil society members, Gaonburas, Dobashis and common citizens to study and learn "Fundamental Rights" guaranteed by Constitution to protect themselves from any form of exploitation.
The second talk, "You are Being Summoned by the New World," shed light on embracing change and adapting to new challenges to thrive in an ever-changing landscape, encouraging the young generation to become agents of change for the new world. Dr Aniruddha also shared his concern on rising Alcoholism, Drugs and Tobacco addiction as well as HIV prevalence among youths of Nagaland. He advocated for Tobacco Free Zones, also strongly suggested introducing "Sex Education" in schools. The talks delivered by the resource person were translated into Sangtam Language by Shri. Nycha Sangtam G/T.
Shri. L. Tia Sangtam, G/T, played a pivotal role as the program's chairperson, ensuring a seamless flow of insightful discussions throughout the seminar.
The opening address was delivered by Assistant Head Mistress Smt. Naongchemten, setting the tone for the day's events.
Shri. Tinuwati Jamir, DEO, Tuensang, delivered a captivating keynote address, emphasizing the importance of education and its role in shaping a brighter future for the community.
The seminar witnessed a diverse and enthusiastic audience, including students, parents, teaching and non-teaching staff of GHS, Chare, Gaonburas, Academicians, Scholars, Church Members, and civil society members. Their active participation and engagement made the event a resounding success.
Conclusion note was pronounced by Shri. Nungshikhoba Sangtam, Head Gaonbura, Tsaru Village who thanked the resource person for enlightening the gathering with different ideas and approaches which were never heard of before. He also appreciated the Asst. Headmistress, SMDC members, Teachers and Staff Members for initiating such a wonderful program which would bring about positive changes in today's generation in the long run. He also asserted and expressed his desire that all sections of people irrespective of tribes, caste, religion, race, clan, colour, gender, village etc should come and unite together and make a striving force for bringing about positive changes in a society and the nation at large.
The seminar concluded on a patriotic note with the recital of the "National Anthem," symbolizing unity and pride in our nation.
Inspired by the positive response and the community's enthusiasm, SMDC, GHS, Chare expressed their strong commitment to positively continue their social initiatives. They pledged to regularly organize more events and programs that contribute to the welfare and growth of the society they serve.
With this initiative, SMDC, GHS, Chare aims to strengthen bonds within the community and foster an environment of mutual support, growth, and progress.
