Security beefed up in Imphal ahead of PM Modi’s visit

Security has been beefed up in Imphal city ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Manipur on March 16 to inaugurate the 105th Indian Science Congress (ISC). The Prime Minister is also likely to lay the foundation stone for National Sports University in the state. However, it is yet to be confirmed from the PMO office, an official source said.
The areas under special security control includes Imphal Airport roads, in and around Manipur University and the road from Imphal to the university, Imphal city, adjacent areas of Koutruk where the permanent campus of National Sport University is to be constructed and sensitive areas in the outskirts.
