Second Session of Healers Conclave at Tamenglong
On second day of Assam Rifles healers conclave in Tamenglong, an awareness cum interactive session on lifestyle diseases was organised by 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 22 sector/ IGAR (East) in collaboration with Deptt of Medicine, Medical College, Silchar.
Dr Ayan Purkayastha was the resource person and coordinated by Commandant SS Shah, CMO of the unit. Dr Ayan virtually addressed the attendees at Tamenglong and highlighted various aspects related to lifestyle diseases and risks associated with them. He addressed various lifestyle related diseases like heart diseases, stroke, BP, hypertension, diabetes, obesity and other chronic problems.
He also spoke on ill effects of smoking, alcohol and drug abuses. He further emphasised on the importance of healthy lifestyle based upon balanced and nutritious diet, positive health and attitude.
On the sidelines of this conclave unit also carried forward its unique health care initiative to reach out to far flung, remote areas of Tamenglong District. Contributing towards ‘Fit India Movement’ and as part of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, unit organised free Medical cum Health Awareness Camp “AYUSH AAPKE DWAR” in Azuiram village.
The medical camp was aimed to provide basic health care facilities and free medicines to the residents of remote areas where medical facility are not easily available. With such camps battalion have brought healthcare services “Near To Home”. It holds importance especially for the old age and needy persons, who cannot travel long distances for receiving medical aid.
The battalion medical team examined patients from various age groups and distributed free general medicines to the local villagers. Covid awareness & info on CAB was also spread through various posters and cutouts.
