Saphu rescued and set-free
A 10-odd month old Saphu( Chinese Pangolin), the only scaly mammal has been rescued from Kampang Khunnou of Tengnoupal District by a team of villagers Dm James Maring, Khulpuwa Solomon Maring (M.Sc Forestry NERIST), Dm Angkham Dangshawa (B.Sc Forestry, CHF Pasighat), Ch Kelvin Maring and Wildlife Researcher Yengkhom Roamer Zest from Kakching with timely co-ordination.
Ruminating utter concerned being one among the critically endangered species(IUCN, listed in Appendix-I of CITES), through consultation with Moirangthem Loya, Wildlife and Habitat Protection Society(WAHPS) based at Langol Punsilok, known for its lush green naturescape, the Saphu is set free once again adapting back to nature yesterday around 11:30 A.M., 29th December, 2022.

Practical nemophilist and Punsilok rejuvenator M. Loya , MU Forestry faculty Dr. L. Romeechand and Wildlife Exponent Y. Roamer’s team together emphasised seriously on its existence from pre-historic times, amongst the highest trafficked mammal in the world, interrelation of wildlife diversity and human ecology, and the need to conserve for better, balance and fair world to all species.
Setting free on the Punsilok(spring of life) is a historic moment, they added.
