Sangai population on the rise

With the addition of five new births, the number of Brow-antlered deer popularly known as Sangai (Cevus Eldi Eldi) in local tongue, is on the rise in Manipur.
Confirming this, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forest and Wildlife Anil Kumar told The Assam Tribune, “Earlier, there were just nine Sangais, now we have 14.”
The new births were reported from the second home of the rare deer at Langol Hill range located close to Manipur Zoological Garden (MZG) at Eroishemba, four km west of Imphal, in the last four months.
