My mom-in-law Samurailatpam Sanahanbi Devi, (retired Lecturer Botany, Ex Principal DM College Commerce),...cancer survivor...Silver Medalist (800ms and 1500ms, 80 plus category) at the recently held 33rd National Masters Athletic Championship Bengaluru. The Sports Committee in Manipur earlier rejected her application due to her health status but finally had to give in after she came first at the selection run in Imphal.

Before being diagnosed with colon cancer, Sanahanbi Devi participated in the half marathon 21 kms at the Asian Veteran Sports Championship held in China and won the gold medal. She also came fourth in 41 kms full marathon held at the world veteran championship Brisbane, Australia.
