Rs 1000 crores plan for Northeast textiles sector

The Northeast textiles sector’s hopes for modernisation have become brighter with the Centre’s expenditure finance committee recently clearing the Rs 1,038-crore plan drawn up for the region in the Twelfth Plan.
The broad objective of the scheme is to develop and modernise the textile sector by providing the required government support in terms of raw material, seed banks, machinery, common facility centres, skill development, design and marketing support.
