Now the Centre is looking for a replacement for Pandey. The names of the proposed interlocutors look like a security agency who’s who list. There are two retired IB special directors, Ajit Lal and R.N. Ravi, and the former director-general of police, Assam, G.M. Srivastava.
The list will be incomplete without a former army honcho – Lt Gen. (retd) R.N. Kapur. The foremost credential of all these worthies is that they have handled the “sensitive” Northeast at different points in their careers.
