Relief Materials Distribution at Keibi Heikakmapal, Imphal
Ningol Chakouba is an auspicious day of the Meetei community where the married women visit their paternal home and strengthen the unique bond between their siblings and also with their parents.
Due to the prevailing conflict situation in the state since last 6 months, inflicting horrors and sorrows in the minds of the people especially the affected families of the state, all the citizens of the state had unanimously stand up for the affected family members, by not celebrating the auspicious Ningol Chakouba this year.
The Meitram Foundation, Imphal led by one of its founder member Dr Bharati Meitram, State Epidimologist, Government of Manipur visited Relief Camp at Keibi Heikakmapal operated by Ringo Youth Club (N Sanatomba) and handed over Chakouba khudols to the inmates of the camp. The camp houses about 80 inmates including women, children and elderly people.
The khudol includes Ladies Shawl, Food items, Groceries items, Notebooks for the kids. The inmates were overwhelmed to the kind gesture from Meitram Foundation and express their desire to move back to their homes, requesting the present Government to take up necessary steps judiciously.
Dr Bharati further express that she support the people's call for not celebrating Ningol Chakouba due the present conflict in the state due to the unnecessary aggressions from the illegal immigrants to the state and further requested the state and central government to bring peace in the state at the earliest.
