Rebel attack fear over power lines
The Telegraph | Agartala, July 12:
The threat of militant attacks has disrupted the laying of power transmission lines in various parts of the Northeast.
The Jiribam-Aizawl and Jiribam-Loktak 132 KV power transmission lines cannot be repaired for fear of militant attacks though states like Tripura, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Manipur heavily depend on them.
“We have unanimously resolved that the Centre should deploy paramilitary forces on a priority basis to ensure smooth repairing of these lines. The copy of the consensual resolution has been sent to the Union power and home ministers,” said Tripura power minister Manik Dey.
