Rape and murder ring alarm bells in Manipur
The Telegraph | Imphal, April 12:
Rising crimes against women in the past few days brought relatives of victims and public organisations together for a joint struggle to bring the culprits to book and check the soaring graph in the future. Two women were gangraped while another woman was burnt to death after she was allegedly raped.
The incidents pressed alarm bells in Manipur.
“Atrocities against women are rising. The government should punish the culprits in a biting manner. If the government fails to punish the culprits, parents are worried their daughters could be victims of such crimes in future,” Phulindro Konsam, convener of the Committee on Human Rights, said.
