Abstract: Quantum chaos has been a subject of intense research in the last few decades. It has wide theoretical and practical applications in different fields of physics and engineering sciences like condense matter physics, high-energy physics, quantum information, etc. Major advances have been made in the last few years. In this talk, the speaker will give an overview on quantum chaos.
First, he will talk about classical chaos and thermalization in classical systems. Next, he will introduce quantum chaos and its many definitions or diagnostics. He will also illustrate the chaotic nature in simple quantum systems.
In the second half of the talk, he will talk about phenomena which suppress quantum chaos and their applications in quantum information systems. He will also talk about some of his research works in this direction.
A brief biodata:
Dr. Nilakash Sorokhaibam completed his schooling from Manipur and then completed B.Sc. Physics(Hons) from University of Delhi. He then completed his Integrated Ph.D. from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai.
His doctoral research work was on Quantum Dynamics, Thermalization and Black holes. Presently he is working as postdoctoral fellow at National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar.
His main research interest is the study of strongly interacting quantum systems including black holes (purportedly the strongest interacting quantum system).
