The Standard Model(SM) of particle physics describes elementary particles and their interactions and can explain varied physical phenomena. It does not explain other observed physical phenomena like the existence of dark matter, dark energy, and neutrino mass; which give irrefutable evidence of physics beyond the Standard Model.
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has been designed to scrutinize the Standard Model, and search for new physics. These searches involve the use of powerful statistical techniques like BDT, which perform better than traditional cut-based analysis.
The advent of robust Artificial Neural Networks prompts its use at such a complicated data-factory like the LHC. In this talk, we will discuss a typical LHC-event and motivate why and how we can gain better results with the use of Neural Networks.
