Abstract:
It is known that there are only finitely many perfect powers in non-degenerate binary recurrence sequences. However explicit finding them is an interesting and a difficult problem for a number of binary recurrence sequences. A breakthrough result in Fibonacci sequences of Bugeaud, Mignotte and Siksek may be cited here.
In the present talk we discuss the problem of finding perfect powers in the product of terms of binary recurrence. We connect this problem with a generalization of a result of Sylvester on prime divisors of arithmetic progressions. We give explicit results on the problem for special binary sequences like Fibonacci, Pell, Jacobsthal, Mersenne and associated Lucas sequences. In fact we prove more general results and use Diophantine techniques.
