RIMS refuses to share information under RTI Act
Seven Sisters Post | Yumnam Rupachandra | Imphal (July 24):
Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS)— touted as one of the best in the region and in the process of being upgraded to New Delhi’s AIIMS-standard — has refused information under the RTI Act within the specified time to an applicant, raising doubts about the sincerity of its administrators.
Failure on part of the RIMS- designated central public information officer (CPIO) to give information to 18 key questions raised by an RTI applicant, identified as one K Seityajit from Khurai Chingambam Leikai in Imphal East, has made the public suspicious if the RIMS had skeletons to hide in its closet.
One of the sensitive information demanded by the RTI activist directly concerns the wife of the present director of the RIMS, Dr N Damayanti Devi. The questions were raised by the activist on May 30, 2012, but the failure of the RIMS CPIO has forced the applicant to file a complaint with the First Appelate Authority of the RIMS.
