'Put public pressure on NSCN to stop feuds'
Times of India | TNN | Jun 8, 2012, 11.09PM IST
In the wake of recent clashes in Zunheboto and Mon districts, the Ceasefire Supervisory Board (CFSB) chairman, Major General (retd) N George, called a joint meeting of the factions on Thursday, but NSCN(Khole-Kitovi) leaders had a heated argument with the central representatives on the implementation of ceasefire ground rules, sources said. NSCN(K) could not attend the meeting as their leaders in the ceasefire supervisory mechanism are currently in New Delhi.
The CFSB chairman said at this juncture, public pressure has great value. Citing the killing of a 15-year-old boy in Zunheboto recently, he lamented that nobody seems to be affected by that incident. "In any civilized society, if this kind of killing takes place, somebody has to answer, but nothing is happening here," he said.
