Protests over book in Imphal
The Telegraph | Imphal June 23:
The Manipur state unit of the Popular Front of India today burnt copies of a general knowledge book, which is being taught in kindergarten, for carrying a picture of Prophet Mohammed.
The Muslim organisation demanded that the government ban the book, alleging that carrying the picture of Prophet Mohammed was against Islamic law and faith.
The volume, Prime General Knowledge Book, was published by Prime Publications and printed at Sangai Offset Printers, Sega Road, Imphal. Page 51 of the general knowledge book, authored by S. Babyla Jassal, has pictures of six Indian deities.
