Prolonged Bangla infiltration has hit NE : Jaitley

Four northeastern state governments are unhappy with the National Green Tribunal’s (NGT) ruling that bans sand mining in river beds across the country without the clearance of Ministry of Environment and The geographical distance of Northeast India from the mainland coupled with prolonged infiltration from Bangladesh has made this region the long term sufferer of country’s partition, said Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley.
Speaking in a session on ‘Different perspectives of ethnic groups on illegal migration into Assam and the Northeast, at Cotton College here today, Jaitley said that the grievance of the North-eastern people that they are being neglected is genuine and is based on the demographic change that is taking place gradually in the region.
