Power crunch a boon for solar panel business
Seven Sisters Post | Yumnam Rupachandra, Imphal, June 30
Dismal power supply in Manipur has come as a boon for the government agencies pursuing alternative energy source — specially solar power. Several traders in Moreh market dealing in cheap China made solar panels are making the most of the current power crisis.
Naucha, a shopkeeper in ‘Moreh International Market’ at Paona Bazar, Imphal, says he sells at least three solar panels per day. Several shops which sale inverters and generators in the market have added solar panels on their stocks following increase in the demand. Similar is the scene in Singjamei market which also deals in Chinese goods. “People use it for home lighting as they cannot depend on the government power supply,” he said.
