Many leaders/politicians still have no regard for Prime Minister in Manipur

It is not surprising to see the government remaining silent when someone, particularly the lawmakers or ex-law makers or people aspiring to become lawmakers breaking the law.

It is not a new thing to see lawmakers or legislators breaking the law.

It is also common happenings that those politicians sometimes act contrary to the policy program that has been taken up by their leadership.

It is okay when an opposition political party acted defying the government policy program as a mark of protest, but one wonders the reason on why politicians belonging to a political party that is running the government defies the policy program announced by their leader who is running the government.

In Manipur, there seems to have no respect for the Prime Minister. His announcement and policy program are often made a mockery by his followers.

Forget about the government but the political party BJP which the Prime Minister is heading seems to have less care by the political party workers of the BJP.

Some of the cases have been highlighted by this newspaper in the last many days.

When the Prime Minister of India dream of a corruption-free government, many whom the BJP led government in the state were found to have no worry in defying the Prime Minister’s Modi’s effort and they keep continuing the regalia that the once upon a time colonial hangover government thinking that the citizens are fools.

A huge amount of money means for the taking up of welfare program for labourers has been misappropriated by a chairperson of the MBOCWWB and no action has been taken up despite the fact that the matter has been reported time and again.

Recently, news about the distribution of firewoods to family members of his constituency again took everyone by surprise.

The MLA of Thanga assembly constitution Th Robindro , who had joined the Manipur BJP led Government distributed firewood which is a forest product to people of his constituency as a relief material during this pandemic COVID -19.

The question is where has the PM Modi Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana gone?

Th Robindro has stated that he is targeting to distribute firwoods to 5600 households of the Thanga Assembly constitution.

It may be mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi recounted his own childhood when his mother struggled with smoke emitting from cooking on firewood or cow dung.

In other to relieve the poor family the Prime Minister had stated that his government will increase coverage of clean fuel to 100 percent households in the near future.

In the year 2016, May PM Modi launched the scheme Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana the aims to provide in next three years as many as 5 crore free cooking gas connections to women from extremely poor households, aimed at reducing the use of polluting fuels such as wood and dried cow dung that, according to the World Health Organization.

Modi said LPG is the cleanest and easily available source of energy that is giving women a healthier lifestyle, saving them time, helping them financially, and saving the environment.

Apart from those included under socio-economic caste census (SECC) to avail the scheme, the extended Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana would now cover all SC/ST households, most backward classes, beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), Antyoday Anna Yojana, forest dwellers, people residing in river and river islands.

Modi said the government is targeting one lakh LPG Panchayats (peer learning platforms to support behaviour change in Ujjwala beneficiaries) this year to boost the LPG refill consumption and provide a window for the benefits of cleaner fuel to become visible.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, the government provides a subsidy of Rs 1,600 to state-owned fuel retailers for every free LPG gas connection that they install in poor rural households without one.

Now is the government going to encourage what the Thanga Assembly Constituency MLA is doing in the name of providing assistance to the family as relief material during this COVID-19 pandemic?

A matter that needs to be pondered.
