Kohima, 4rd February 2019
Political parties of North East met Union Home Minister on CAB on 3rd February 2019
In what can be termed as a major breakthrough for the anti-Citizenship Amendment Bill (2016) campaign, and the follow up to the ‘North East Region’s Political Parties Convention on the Bill’ which was held on 29th January 2019 at Guwahati, major political parties of the North East region including the Naga People’s Front on 3rd February 2019 has apprised the Union Home Minister on the dissent and furor that the CAB has caused in the region by being passed in the Lok Sabha on 8 January 2019.
Keeping in mind the uproar of the indigenous people of the Northeastern in their respective states and the effect of the CAB upon the region, all North East Region Political Parties was convened at Guwahati in which the NPF was well represented by Legislators and Party workers led by the Leader of NPF Legislature Party Shri T.R.Zeliang in the meeting.
The delegations, which met the Central leaders comprises of several other political party of the Northeast region led by Chief Minister of Meghalaya Shri Conrad Sangma (NPP). Awangbo Newmai, President NPF Manipur Unit who was among the delegation was authorized by the party to represent the Party.
The NPF Party reiterates that it stands and opposition to this CAB 2016 and also condemns the NDPP led PDA government of Nagaland for being indecisive and confusing the Naga public with its fickle and inconsistent decisions every other day. The NPF will be party to all likeminded political parties in the region who stands for the welfare and protection of the indigenous people of the region and not to the political party which is all words and no action.
The NPF would like to remind the NDPP party to cultivate more ‘Facta’ and less of ‘Verba’ and govern with responsibility and the will to serve and protect the people. The NPF would not be surprised to read about a cabinet decision not to oppose the CAB 2016 in coming days, as cabinet decisions of this NDPP led PDA government of late have been changing every alternate day.
Members of the Delegation that met the Central leaders included: -
1. Conrad K Sangma - NPP - CM Meghalaya
