Peaceful Demonstration successful despite of obstruction
- MSAD (Manipur Students' Association Delhi) -
New Delhi, 30 December 2008
A peaceful demonstration against Racial Discrimination on Northeast People, in response to the criminal assault on two Manipuri women on 13 December by landlord, was collectively organised under the initiatives of Manipur Students' Association Delhi on 29 December 2008 at DLF (Phase 1), Sikenderpur, Gurgaon, Haryana State.
The demonstration was attended by above hundred persons, including members of All India SC/ST Students' Federation, Assam Students' Association Delhi, Hmar Students' Association (Delhi), Kuki Students' Organisation Delhi, Maring Students', SSPP (Paite), Sikkim Youth Association, Vaiphei Student (ZILLAI) and Zelianrong Students' Union Delhi.
The demonstration began with an assembly in front of the house of landlord who had committed the crime and it was followed by a march on several streets of Sikenderpur. Pamphlets, printed in English and Hindi languages, narrating the criminal act of 13 December and conveying the message of peace and love were circulated widely.

MSAD appreciates the spirit and valour of the protestors who stood firm with commitment to hold the ground intake without retreat and carry on with silent demonstration despite of an organised obstruction and disturbance by locals who have no respect for woman and northeast people.
The casteist and racist arrogance that the enemy of peace and mutual respect have shown in storming upon peaceful demonstration, blocking the march, tearing off posters, snatching away banner and behaving and abusing with the most uncivilised manner have once again proven that the Northeast people have long years to struggle to prove their Indianness socially recognisable and respectable within India.
The spirit of MSAD to carry on struggle for the cause of human rights is never shattered by such casteist vandalism and racist arrogance. We fight for quality and we are not frustrated by the numerical superiority of the enemy of the peace.
MSAD is grateful to the fraternal organisations, patrons and supporters and the concerned media for the moral, political, financial and physical support in making the demonstration successful.
MSAD also expresses solidarity to Northeast Helpline and other organisations and persons who are working hard to deliver justice to Lucy and Grace (Names changed). Finally, MSAD expresses its commitment to work hand in hand with like minded collectives on common platform for common cause.
