Grave Concern - Failure Of Peaceful Demonstration, (19 June '09) Moreh
PR from WLB (Women's League of Burma) & KWHRO
Women's League of Burma and Kuki Women Human Rights Organization in a joint venture proposed a peaceful demonstration at Moreh on 19 June 2009. But remains in fiasco. The move to free Aung San Suu Kyi and all political prisoners shook the world during the month of May '09.
Looking national issue, the move has been undertaken to put into practical though. This can never be consigned to local interest. But the interest is national as well as international at large. The reason for impassing the proposal rally organized on 19th June 2009 at Moreh might be simple.
This is due to certain section of local (Moreh) inhabitants supporting their miscreants taking a save shelter in Myanmar. However the Indian Government remains like a warm wisher seeking to gain influence over the current issue in Myanmar. It is quite clear on Monday 25th of June 2008, European and Asian Foreign ministers kick-off a two day meeting in Hanoi.
The neighbor state Indian never under estimate the level of people's anger on the cause of Suu Kyi's term house arrest extension to 5 years, just after the notorious Insein prison's trial. India is not ignoring the Burmese pro-democracy movement. It is quite evident by the pressure of more than 50,000 Burmese refugees in Indian including some leading dissidents.
Here it is quite confusing whether Manipur is not a part of India. If then ------ what! See the troubled sea and understand the waves. The United Nations Security Council on Friday 22nd May 2009 expressed concern over the political impacts in relation the charges and trial against Burmese opposition leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
The 15 member's body reiterates its call for the release of all political prisoners including Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and urged the Burmese military junta to engage in a political dialogue. British Prime Minister Gordon Brown on Monday 18 May send an open letter to Burmese detained opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi, saying people are standing with you not just here in Britain, but everywhere that democracy and freedom are upheld.
Meanwhile, The US state department on Monday said the trial of Aung San Suu Kyi does not help the US in considering the easing sanctions. Thai foreign minister, Kasit Piromya states "The facts are still unclear on the US citizen case and we also want the Burmese government to declare how he (John William Yattaw) could swim to her (Suu Kyi's) house under tight security and what is his objective for this action.
Deputy US Secretary of states James Steinberg gave notice on April 1st 2009 during a conference in Washington D.C that the United States wants a "collaboration and constructive approach on Burma's military government should avoid "recreating a mini version of the Great Game.
Recently at Mae Sot, Thai-Burmese border town a group of people, most of them are foreigners marched in protest against Burma's military ruler for charging Nobel Peace Laureate, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and conducting a trial against her at the notorious Insein prison in Rangoon.
Why WLB & KWHRO fail to pose a peaceful demonstration at Moreh in the midst of giving proper assistance by the government of India. It is certain that due to the presence of certain anti-India elements in the border region of Myanmar, insecurity has threatened the situation.
Where at present the junta's government provided heaven save accommodation to certain insurgents and are scattering around in
SAYASAN, NOUNGKAT, PHAIJANG, AUNGZAYYAH, MINTHA, NANPHALONG, TAMU etc. India's stands toward Burma on insurgency strategem___ One important factor in Indian foreign policy shift was the rise of insurgency in the restive northeastern provinces of India.
About 2000 insurgents from different groups have based in Burma mostly in north western Sagaing division. Senior General Than Shwe during his grand visit to New Delhi in 2004 assured the Indian Government that he would not allow his country to be used by anti-Indian elements.
But this policy was still in paper. Burma and India on Sunday 23rd Nov '08 concluded the 9th foreign office consultation agreeing to cooperate in wide range bilateral issues. The meeting held at Rangoon between Burmese Deputy Foreign minister Kyaw Thu and Indian Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon agreed to cooperate in bilateral issues, including security and border issues.
During Maung Aye visit to India, a memorandum of understanding on intelligence exchange to combat transitional crime including terrorism was made. India wants to eliminate all these insurgents groups. So one of the main reasons behind India's relationship with Burma is helping to flush out the rebels.
We really mean that we knew most of the facts but never concentrated on petty things on which are very much concerning to local issues. Rather we focus on Burma's military regime responsible for the gross human rights violations and suppression suffered by the people. In short, India should not think that the military regime will be there forever to deal with.
