Dharna against Tipaimukh
Silchar, August 6
About 300 poor cultivators from rural Cachar under Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) today stagged Dharna in front
of Deputy Commissioner office at Silchar, Cachar against Tipaimukh Hydel project.
The agitated people later submmitted a memorandum to the DC Cachar addressed to the Chief Minister, Assam urging his intervention in restraining centre in building Tipaimukh Dam.
Molan Laskar, President, KMSS said, this water bomb like project if cracks the whole of down stream area would wash out. The Tipaimukh
project in no way would control flood rather in summer, the mangnitude of flood in down stream area would much higher.
Again in winter, people would not get water for drinking, cultivation and navigation,' he added. He later urged people to come out
and start agitation against this dangerous dam.
