PM Modi's Mann Ki Baat reaping fruit
- The People's Chronicle Editorial :: May 03, 2023 -
THERE is no doubt that the monthly radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat', through which Prime Minister Narendra Modi shares his personal views on varied apolitical issues and chats with citizens, who have made achievement in diverse fields, is not only a popular programme but also giving insights into hitherto unknown places, history, culture, traditions and lifestyles of people of different regions.
Apart from central and state leaders tuning in to the PM's speech during the celebration of the programme's 100th edition across the nation, the April 30 event provided the platform to formally recognise successful individuals and achievers from Manipur who figured and found mention in the Mann Ki Baat programme, thereby inspiring others to strive for excelling in his/her chosen profession.
In Manipur, the celebration programmes held at different parts of the state were marked by speakers hailing PM Modi's vision to directly contact ordinary citizens, listen to their initiatives in bringing socio-economic changes in the society and more importantly providing an opportunity to successful individuals to express opinions and desires of the public through the mass media.
For instance, in the 100th episode, PM Modi had a telephonic conversation with entrepreneur, named,
Bijyashanti of Thanga Tongbram Leikai and congratulated her on her innovative idea and contribution to sustained economy
while the Manipur Raj Bhavan honoured Tababi Devi from Mayang Imphal Kokchai Awang Leikai;
TS Ringphami Young and Avungshee Shimray Augustina of Dungrei Hunpung, Ukhrul;
Th Niranjoy Singh of Narankonjin, Mamang Leikai;
Lourembam Bino Devi of Singjamei Mathak Thokchom Leikai;
Martina Devi of Phoijing Chingning, Nambol;
and Saikhom Surchandra Singh of Brahmapur Bheigyabati Leikai besides Bijyashanti,
all of who have made a mark in their respective fields.
In his conversation with Bijyashanti, PM Modi said that her success in exporting the lotus fibre clothes to other countries has turned Vocal for Local to Local for Global, which would certainly inspire her as well as others to aim higher,
As stated by Bijyashanti, her endeavour figuring in the Mann Ki Baat made her unique eco-friendly idea of making thread from the Lotus stem and producing cloth items from the same more popular.
The brief chat also had the PM commending Bijyashanti's innovative idea and subsequent achievement as a testament of empowerment of the womenfolk and the resolve of ordinary citizens to give new lease of life to scores of people.
In a state like Manipur where the rate of employment is nothing to cherish about the young entrepreneur's ability to provide source of livelihood to around 30 women is a huge achievement.
It is also impressive that she is targeting to expand her workforce up to 100 women this year, thereby indicating that the telephonic conversation with the PM in an earlier episode has a made positive impact and driven her to work harder for expanding her network.
The fact that she has been receiving queries for bulk order from USA makes it crystal clear that after figuring in the PM's radio talk programme her erstwhile humble endeavour has been gaining global recognition.
Thus, it is distinctly clear now that objective of the programme envisioned to create a direct connect between the PM and the citizens is reaping the fruit of reaching out to villagers, farmers and the working class of the society as everybody can listen to the radio while still doing their work.
