Oil tankers' strike leads to fuel crisis
Seven Sisters Post | Imphal (Apr 11)
Oil tanker drivers on Wednesday refused to offload fuel at the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) depot at Chingmeirong here in protest against what they said the attitude of the new depot manager towards them. The strike has led to fuel crisis in the state.
The drivers were agitated over the fact that 20 tankers owned by petrol pumps were allowed to offload their fuel without waiting in the queue, while around 160 tankers stationed at Khuman Lampak campus of the 2nd IRB are unable to unload their fuel at the IOC depot. Some of them even have been waiting for the past 10 days. The drivers are reluctant to park their tankers in front of the oil depot at Chingmeirong because there are no proper toilet and other facilities.
