Officials inspect upgradation of road in Ukrhul

In the wake of authenticating the public compliant against the poor quality of work concerning the Eastern Circular Road of Ukhrul town, the district magistrate has on Wednesday issued a “conditional order” against the agency undertaking the construction.
On Wednesday morning, a team led by deputy commissioner R. Sudhan, PWD officials and Hunphun Executive Council (HEC) conducted a spot enquiry on the ongoing and delayed blacktopping of Eastern Circular Road and found the quality of work far below the prescribed norms. The spot inspection held this morning was also accompanied a team of media.
The upgradation work of Ukhrul Town eastern Circular Road upto Somsai via St. Joseph College is being done under SPA fund at the estimated cost of Rs. 1.7 crore, for which the blacktopping work along the 4.6km began from March 2011 and completed by September 23 the same year.
