Observation of International Day of Non-violence
Ekta Parishad Manipur in co-ordination with National Youth Project (NYP) has jointly organised 'Observation of International Day of Non-violence Cum Public Consultancy on `Homestead Land Rights" at Bal Vidya Mandir, Palace Compound, Imphal.
The observation was launched with a tree plantation program inside the campus followed by a footmarch sloganeering establishment of 'Justice and Peace Ministry' at state and national level. Restoration of conflicts through agreement and dialogue, instilling passion of peace in youthful minds and collective implementation of progressive peace, social justice and development etc are some of the expectations from the ministry.
Floral tributes was paid to the photo of Mahatma Gandhi and observed two minutes silence. Presidium members spoke on nationalism, Gandhiji's and non-violence. Ekta Parishad concluded its twelve (12) day long footmarch started from 21'd September, International day of Peace to ri October, International Non-violence Day.
A state level core committee have been formed by representatives of landless villagers from Imphal East, Imphal West,Thoubal,Kakching and Bishnupur districts. Continuing the demand for homestead land to the landless 'HO lam eigi Flak' my land my right' campaigned has been launched by Ekta Parishad State Co-Ordinator, Aribam Rishi Sharma. Memorandums are submitted to various state authorities and Political parties proposing;
I. Inclusion of landlessness related issues in villages in Chief Minister's 2.2- Cm to Village Mission
2. A formal survey on landlessness by the concerned state authority
3. Launch a Chief Minister Special Scheme to allot land to the landless
4. Conversion of 'Manipur State Right to Homestead Bill, 2016' submitted by the organisation into act
5. Promote the establishment of 'Justice and Peace Ministry' at state and national levels.
6. All the political parties are requested to include the above mentioned points in their election manifesto for the upcoming assembly election to be held in 2022.
