O My Son
K. Radhakumar *
My five year old son
Draws a cloud
And colours it lush green.
To me a cloud is
A grey or white thing
Floating in the sky
Sometimes swiftly before it rains
But usually at a leisurely pace
Like a man enjoying life
Taking a sip of whisky
On a rocking chair
A magazine on his lap
With a nude model
On its cover.
My son's green cloudv
Doesn't look like a cloud at all;
And I don't know why
It is coloured green.
My son gazes at me in amazement
And I cannot believe my own stupidity
