Northeast tattoos stare at extinction

Traditional northeastern tattoos are facing a decline as young tattoo aficionados prefer Maori, Chinese or Korean patterns over that of the Konyaks, Apatanis, Sangtam or the Changs...... Mo Naga, a professional tattoo artist who is exploring the symbolism of northeastern tattoos, states that they are more than just headhunting aids.
He also claims that the few stories that have been circulated around the Nagas and the Apatanis have only portrayed a subjective version of the truth. Mo is on a mission to generate awareness about the tattooing tradition and dispel misinterpretations.
