Northeast getting more central funds, PM says

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday said the quantum of central funds provided for the development of the northeast has been enhanced from Rs 12,500 crore to nearly Rs 50,000 crore in the last 9 years.
Addressing an election rally in Aizawl, the Prime Minister said, "It is being ensured that all Central government ministries allocate 10 per cent of their budget for development of the NE region, while special tax concessions are being provided to facilitate economic development in the region."
