Northeast Community Spreading Message of Cleaninness in National Capital

Cleanliness drive at the Vasant Arcade, Vasant Kunj, South Delhi on 8th October 2019
Inline with Hon’ble PM Modi’s National Mission call for Clean India, the Northeast Delhi Community conducted a cleanliness drive at the Vasant Arcade, Vasant Kunj, South Delhi on 8th October 2019.
Paying a national tribute to ongoing Mahatma Gandhi’s 150 years celebration, groups, and organizations from different walks of life pledge for their commitment to being a better citizen, and be messages for Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan.
The cleanliness drive was initiated by social worker Linda Newmai and renown Naga Chef, Karen Yepthomi.

Along with the nation's awakeness for Swatchh Bharat, the Northeast felt need to keep the National capital clean and healthy.
The social works went for the whole day: inhabitable parks, surrounding vicinity area of Vasant Kunj Arcade were clean, cleanliness awareness and health issues were discussed with the drivers, shop owners, and the workers.
The need to systematically dispose of garbage and conduct such regular drive was an appeal to the owners and society in-charge of the area.

The initiative was well received by the surrounding community.
For instance, a shop owner who runs Momo restaurant with tears in his eyes echoed that he has been cleaning the area for a while and he is tired because no one gives a lending hand.
This initiative will open eyes for others to start cleaning surrounding areas and a lesson to learn from Northeast people.
