North East to benefit from interim Union budget, say experts

Though P Chidambaram's interim budget (2014-15) has nothing specific for the northeast except the Rs 1200-crore additional central assistance (ACA), commentators here said the outlays in general under different heads would benefit the region to some extent.
Professor of economics of Manipur University Amar Yumnam said Rs 1200 crore is not a sufficient amount for 10 states, including the NE states. "Barring the additional allocation for Nirbhaya fund and students' education loan waiver, there is nothing substantial in this interim budget," added Yumnam.
