North East artisans showcase local products at Dilli Haat
Nagaland Post | Dimapur, May 30 (NPN)
R K James Singh from Manipur who would be in Dilli haat for 15 days from mid May to June 2, for instance could manage to sell quite a few of his beautiful coloured kauna items. He had come with coloured bags, trays and many other items besides the all time favourite black stone pottery. James is a student who makes handicraft items as well to help his family.
Muivah K N Shimray, also from Manipur, albeit from the hill area of Ukhrul district is likewise happy to be in Delhi, more so since unlike his home state where extortions by militants is a part of daily life, Delhi has no such problems.
Said Muivah, “I have to pay Rs. 500 to Rs. 1,000 at every point to different militant groups for doing business in Manipur. Here I can go around freely and at the same time sell my products and make profit.”
