“Promotion of Infrastructure & Connectivity in NE”
o The session would deliberate on ongoing & upcoming infrastructure projects, issue of time-bound implementation of projects, better centre-state coordination and secure business environment, Exploiting the Public Private Partnership framework, Financing large scale infra projects. Infrastructure projects such as building of connecting links between North-East and the rest of India, and North-East and South-East Asia will go a long way in improving connectivity and transforming the region into a flourishing business hub and fulfil its role as the “Gateway to South East Asia”.
o The Session would also focus on the potential of inland waterways, capacity augmentation, investment opportunity in the sector, role of state governments, dredging, ship-building, maintenance of terminals, coastal shipping etc.
o Another important aspect would be improving air connectivity for NE.

“Entrepreneurship Development in NE with focus on Banking & Financial Inclusion, IT & ITeS”
o A number of sectors can emerge as important sources of employment in the NE region and it is crucial to identify the relevant education streams and skill sets that need to be developed among the people to enhance their employability.
Financial Inclusion has been at the forefront of regulators and policy makers for NE. This will undoubtedly ensure the presence of more banks and better quality of financial services at affordable costs to the disadvantaged sections in the region. The session would also focus on improving IT & ITES. The thrust is to make IT the vehicle for productive growth in the NE, all round development and improved performance in governance and administration; EoDB, NEBPS, and developmental activities leading to IT related growth.

Government is putting special focus to North East and several landmark decisions have already been taken in thermal power generation, hydel and more importantly in solar, wind and other green energy, besides strengthening of transmission and distribution. These also include not only achievements in capacity addition but also important reforms being undertaken on increasing energy efficiency of the present infrastructure and thereby reducing power losses. The North Eastern States and Eastern India region offers tremendous potential for development of renewable energy infrastructure and investment opportunities. In recent times, this has drawn business relations and investment interests from countries like Japan and Taiwan too.
