Nonage
Moirangthem Minakshi Devi *
How pitiful is it that vve remember naught from the years of infancy,
When we were toddlers, unpolluted by the world's vices.
When feelings were in binaries, either too happy or crying our hearts out.
Thoughts unfettered, expressions untainted by pretence.
Minds fluid, yet to be poured and moulded into the societal paradigm of sanity.
Guarded we were by the fine veils of ignorance and naivety
From the currents of mendacity.
Loved we were, for our earnest acts and desires;
Amused we were at the mysterious and beguiling world that was.
But now I see, we have but entrusted those memories to Her
For athwart the fabricated consciousness, they would beget conflict,
Two antonymous idea, each sneering at the other
So let Nature be the keeper till we return to her arms,
from whence we shall take back the bliss and balance.
