Free Non-Operative (Device) Closure of "hole in the heart"

Four more children including one from Nagaland underwent free Non-Operative (device) closure procedure for various holes in the heart successfully at SKY Hospital, Imphal West, Manipur on 30th June 2018. The operation was sponsored by the respective State Health Society of Manipur and Nagaland under National Health Mission programme, Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK).
Dr L.Shyamkishore, Chairman & Chief Cardiologist of SKY Hospital is happy to announce that children below 18 yrs old who are born with Congenital heart diseases from our neighbouring State Nagaland are provided such free service at SKY Hospital under the RBSK, National Health Mission.
The names of the beneficiaries who underwent non-operative (Device ) Closure of holes in the heart at SKY Hospital are –Medozeno 8 yrs 6 months/Female D/o Rokolezo from Jotsoma Village, Kohima District, Nagaland ( Device Closure of Arterial Septal Defect and Balloon Dilatation of Vascular Pulmonary Stenosis), Chinnemmuan 16 yrs 3 months/Female, D/o Chinkhapau from Phaitong Village Ccpur District (Device Closure of Ventricular Septal Defect), Jojo Chingneihoih 5 yrs 5 months/Female,D/o Lhingneimoi from Rengkai Zion Veng, Ccpur Distrct (Device Closure of Ventricular Septal Defect) and Sindy 5yrs 8 months /Female D/o T.Hubert Zou from P.Kamdouveng, Ccpur District (Device Closure of Ventricular Septal Defect).
Medozeno, from Nagaland had another congenital heart defect called Severe Pulmonary Valvular Stenosis which was restricting free blood flow through the heart. The defect was treated successfully at the same session with Balloon Dilatation of the stenosed/narrowed heart valve. These children will now grow up as normal persons although they will need regular check up for the next few months following the procedure.
Dr L.Shyamkishore, stated that the procedure charges and hospital charges were provided free of cost under combined venture of RBSK, National Health Mission, Manipur, RBSK, National Health Mission, Nagaland and SKY Hospital, Imphal. He further stated that majority of these patients will not survive if not diagnosed in early life and treated appropriately. Dr L.Shyamkishore expressed his extreme happiness to see these children recovering very well after the successful device closure.
He seeks co-operation from the Government and people to help SKY Hospital help the heart patients, not only of Manipur but also neighbouring states of North East India. To expedite the early diagnosis and appropriate treatment, free Children Heart OPD and Free Echocardiographic Screening Service are provided every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at SKY Hospital Imphal referred by District RBSK team both from Manipur and Nagaland for further confirmation of diagnosis and treatment strategy.
