Neiphiu Rio's tall announcement to people as just another mockery : NPF
4th October 2018 : Kohima
Improvement and development of road condition in the state has always been the main concern and priority of the previous NPF Government and for which thousands of Crores of rupees have been approved by the Central Government and it is a record of sort in itself and an achievement of the then NPF Government.
However, the PDA Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio declaring that all roads starting with Kohima-Dimapur, that his government is going to build good roads in a year time is most astonishing as the government of the day could not even materialize the fund which was already approved and sanctioned during the then NPF government and many of which, work orders were issued. For instance, Golaghat-Purana Bazaar (2 lane), Purana Bazaar-Chumukedima (4 lane), work order was issued last August 2017, New Check gate-Lerie (2 lane), work order was issued during September 2017.
Therefore, the Naga People’s Front would like to ask the Chief Minister, which road his PDA Government is contemplating to take up, as all the ongoing works are accorded during the previous NPF Government headed by TR Zeliang and for that the work is already in full swing but due to the off-season, the ongoing work was stopped.
The NPF termed the Chief Minister tall announcement to the people as just another mockery, as whatever he is claiming as his government achievement were the projects which was already accorded during the previous NPF Government.
The NPF also ask the PDA Planning Minister, Neiba Kronu on what ground he is referring that the state government will shell out funds from its own resources as funds from the Central government will take time for the construction of road projects. The NPF ask the Minister incharge, how much fund he will allocated from the state fund and how much the state government can disburse for the construction of the roads.
Instead of finding flimsy excuses to take the credit of what the previous government had done, the Government of the day should pursue with a missionary zeal and complete the various road projects put up by the previous NPF Government judiciously within the stipulated period.
The NPF would like to remind that the PDA Government during the last budget session 2018 had promised in the house to complete all the roads connecting district headquarters within 30, 60, 100 days and already seven months had lapsed but nothing of that sort was visible and the Naga public is the best witness.
Again, the most honourable Chief Minister has committed to the people that within one-year time, his government will complete all the roads in the state, which was seconded by none other than another most honourable Planning Minister, Neiba Kronu that he will construct all the roads before the festive season starts.
Neiba Kronu being the Planning Minister should declare the amount appropriated from state exchequer for building the road in the state as in the last budget session 60 crore was set aside for road improvement in all the district Headquarters but in reality, PDA Govt could provide only 25 Crore to the department as per reply given by minister I/C PWD in recently concluded summer session. Therefore, it is difficult to trust the PDA Govt unless the amount is appropriated by planning department and released to the implementing agency.
Anyways, that one year which Rio is asking to the Naga people may be too long because apparently, the days of his PDA Government is already numbered. The NPF party does not speculate. The Chief Minister may be speculating for his timeline 30, 60, 100 days and one year but his seven-month-old government achievement is minus zero even though financial mis-management and mis-governance are two obvious to be seen by every party and the people.
Nevertheless, the NPF will work accordingly as supposed to per the interest of the people and the call of the time and once again reminded the people that the PDA Government has already live its longevity.
