National Mathematics Day Celebration at Oriental College
SYSTEMATIC APPROACH IS NEEDED FOR BRINGING QUALITY EDUCATION: DEPUTY CHIEF MINISTER
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Y. Joykumar Singh has said that systematic approach in teaching and learning is very much important in bringing quality education in the State.
Addressing the inaugural session of four day long National Mathematics Day Celebration at Indoor Stadium, Oriental College, Takyelpat in Imphal today, Deputy Chief Minister said, three basic steps as Learning, Understanding and Application are necessary to bring quality education. He said, applying such a valuable approach will definitely help the students toremember what they learnt and make it easy to apply it wherever necessary, eventually a fruitful career in their lives.
While acknowledging the importance of organising National Mathematics Day Celebration, Shri Y. Joykumar Singh said, by organising such a Celebration would bring a change in the mind-sets, especially to the budding talents to acknowledge the importance of Mathematics and to infuse and ignite them. He assured to extend all possible help by the Government to make the Celebration a grand success.
Parliamentary Secretary (Science & Technology) Shri Th. Satyabarta Singh said, Mathematics is not only a subject to learn by the students but it is becoming a basic component of Human lives. The celebration will enable the students to nurture their minds and to compete each other thereby enhancing their instinct, he added.
Deputy Chief Minister along with other dignitaries inspected the Mathematics Models being displayed as apart of the Celebration. A series of programmes will be organised in the four daylongcelebration which is jointly organised by MASTEC and Department of Mathematics, Oriental College (Autonomous), Imphal. Around 400 students from various institutions across the state will take part in various competitions.
Secretary (Science & technology) Shri H. Gyanprakash Singh, Director, Manipur Science and Technology Council (MASTEC) Shri Th. Surendranath and Th. Devendra, Dean, School of Science, Oriental College also participated among others in the inaugural session.
