RGU Conducts Interactive Session on National Integration and Social Harmony
Rajiv Gandhi University has observed Communal Harmony Campaign Week through an interactive Session today with Shri P.C Tiwari currently working as Assistant Secretary for National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH) at Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi. The session was a joint initiative of three departments namely Department of National Security Studies, Department of Social Work and Department of Psychology. The programme was attended by nearly 100 students, scholars, teaching and non-teaching staff.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Saket Kushwaha acknowledged the connect of Shri Tiwari for his visit to RGU as a former employee of the institution. He said that the interaction session today not only will be instrumental in facilitating the exposure and enriching knowledge of our students but has also an intrinsic significance towards facilitating their horizons in terms of different aspects of knowledge and research.
Dr. N.T. Rikam, Registrar, RGU also appreciated the connect and identification of Shri Tiwari with university and emphasized on the fact that this kind of interaction with current generation of students with a former dedicated employee will not enrich them with knowledge but will also make them aware of the revolutionary journey that RGU has witnessed over the years.
The esteemed guest of the day Shri P.C Tiwari spoke about the mission and vision of the National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH) which has been doing various welfare activities such as providing financial assistance for education to child victims of communal, caste, ethnic, terrorist violence in India. He also acknowledged the occasion of ongoing Communal Harmony Campaign Week which has commenced on 19th November and ends on 25th November, 2023.
During his address he discussed a range of topics viz. flagships programme undertaken by the foundation highlighting extension activities to promote communal harmony and National Integration. He said that NFCH has been funding NGOs to conduct debates, discussions, seminars to aware the students and young minds on National Values towards the cause of National Integration.
Shri Tiwari who also happens to be former employee of RGU became nostalgic as he visited the institution almost after 20 years. He applauded former VC’s including the current one as he was amazed to witness the drastic developments that RGU has undergone throughout these years. He also admired the rich cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh which has always cherished as one of the best assets of its social fabric which also contributes to the cause of National integration.
He advised the students to be health conscious and maintain a disciplined lifestyle in order to achieve their goals in life. At the end of the speech there was an one to one interaction with the faculty members and students. Various questions were asked ranging from national security to opportunities for psychology and social work students in NFCH.
The programme was moderated by Dr. Ravi Ranjan Kumar, officiating Head, Department of Social Work and was attended by Dr. Proshanto Kumar Saha, Head, Department of Psychology, Dr. Kaushalendra Pratap Singh, Assistant Professor Department of Social Work, Dr. Arvind Kumar Kushwaha, officiating Head, Department of National Security Studies, Dr. Dharmeshwari Lourembam & Dr. Kakali Goswami, Assistant Professors, Department of Psychology, RGU.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Proshanto Kumar Saha, Head, Department of Psychology, RGU who thanked the resource person and university authorities for their valuable time and appreciated the active participation of students towards completion of a successful interaction session. The session was attended by nearly 100 participants.
